Carnelian

Deep orange through to rust red, sometimes with clear or white banding running through it, carnelian is one of the warmest stones in the shop. It carves well, so most of what is here has been worked: hearts, moons on custom stands, a shell with druzy, a skull, freeforms from 98g to 383g, palm stones, and a chip tree set on a rose quartz base.

Hold a piece up to a window and better material glows, because carnelian is translucent enough to pass light. That is generally the difference between a piece that looks flat on a shelf and one that does not.

In crystal tradition carnelian is associated with drive, creativity and getting started on things, which is why it turns up in both the Motivation and Creativity collections here.

Every piece is weighed, measured and photographed on its own, because the colour varies enough between stones that a stock photo would be misleading. Hand-picked in Adelaide and posted anywhere in Australia.
