Smoky Quartz

Smoky quartz is clear quartz that has been naturally irradiated underground, which turns it anywhere from a light haze to almost black. The collection here includes spheres, a 1.15kg tower on a custom stand, a bullet carving, a sun catcher, tumble bags and 100g bags of chips.

It is worth knowing that a lot of very dark, very cheap smoky quartz on the market has been artificially irradiated to deepen the colour. The material here is chosen for natural tone, which means it tends to be lighter and more transparent than the near-opaque black you sometimes see.

In crystal tradition smoky quartz is regarded as a grounding and protective stone, and it is often kept alongside clear quartz for that contrast. It is also one of the few dark stones that still passes light, which makes it worth placing somewhere a window can reach it.
