Tiger's Eye

Tiger's eye gets its name from chatoyancy, the band of light that shifts across the surface as you turn it, like the pupil of an eye narrowing. Golden brown is the classic, but the multi-coloured material here carries blue and red through the same piece.

The collection includes spheres, a cube, a turtle carving, butterfly wings set on a stand, chip and bead bracelets, and an alien head carving in yooperlite that uses tiger's eye for the eyes.

It is a hard, dense stone that takes a high polish and wears well, which makes it one of the better choices for something that will be handled every day rather than displayed. In crystal tradition it has long been carried for courage and steadiness, which is why it turns up so often in bracelets rather than shelf pieces.

Everything is weighed, measured and photographed individually. Hand-picked in Adelaide and posted anywhere in Australia.
